Granville Academy Dress Code

Granville Academy of Greater Waterbury Dress Code

As Granville Academy students, you are expected to project a professional image at all times. This image should be reflected in your style of dress.   Granville Academy of Greater Waterbury has adopted a dress code that not only projects a more uniform image, but is one in keeping with the dress code followed by Granville National as well as the other Granville Academy Affiliates. This Dress Code outlines the type of dress expected of Granville students at all regularly scheduled class meetings and Granville-sponsored trips/excursions, however, the following articles of clothing are not acceptable at any Granville Academy sponsored activity or event:

  • Du-rags, bandanas
  • Worn, frayed, wrinkled, stained or excessively tight fitting clothing. Clothing must not have excessively high slits, be of spandex material, or have excessively short skirts or plunging necklines.
  • DENIM OR BLUE JEAN MATERIAL OF ANY TYPE OR COLORS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
  • "Sagging" pants, or pants wihtout belts.  Belt buckles must be visible at all times.

Young Men

  • Dress suits (Black or Navy Blue in color) with complimentary colored dress shirts and ties
  • Dress socks
  • Dress shoes (no work/hiking boots, Timberlands, or athletic shoes/sneakers, sport sandals, or flip-flops)

Young Women

  • Dress suits (Black or Navy in color, can be either skirt or pant suit) with a complimentary collared, colored blouse.
  • Hose must be of a solid with no visible pattern.
  • Dress shoes (no work/hiking boots, Timberlands, or athletic shoes/sneakers, sport sandals, or flip-flops)

Proper attire for occasions such as the Annual Convention should follow the dress code outlined above for daily events, but will be relaxed for certain events that take place during the Convention weekend such as parties, etc.  Proper attire for the Annual Banquet is dressier in nature, but students should keep in mind that excessively revealing/tight fitting clothing, clothing with excessive slits, cleavage, open/low cut back/front, any type of denim or jean material of any color, "sagging" pants, pants without belts, du-rags and bandanas are all unacceptable choices.

A good rule of thumb is "If you have to question whether your attire is appropriate for a particular event, then don't wear it." Parents of Granville students are expected to help enforce the dress code, keeping in mind that repeated infractions could subject the student to dismissal from the program. Please see any member of the Parent's Committee with any questions regarding the Granville Academy Dress Code.
