History of National Granville Academy of Waterbury
Granville Academy of Waterbury (GAW) was founded in 1992 by attorney Maurice Mosley. Mr. Mosley is a Waterbury native who saw a need and sought to address the problems encountered by inner city at-risk youth in his hometown. In partnering with educational, business, civic and community leaders and programs, Granville Academy of Waterbury has established strong working relationships that foster development inside and outside the classroom.
Granville Academy has a proven track record when it comes to its programming. Since 1999, GAW has graduated over 1400 students with over 90 percent of those students attending college. Many of these students have become professionals in the fields of engineering, biomedical sciences, teaching, nursing, government and the law. These alumni now come back to GAW to mentor, teach and educate the youth.
