At Granville Academy, parents and guardians participate together in the developmental and educational process, empowering them to be able to enjoy the learning approach where academic, social, physical, and emotional growth are equally important. Granville Academy is able to offer this program because it is founded on the active and vital role parent’s play.
PARENT COMMITTEES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Membership Committee Conduct on-going membership drives to bring more parents into the Association for activity support is the primary responsibility of this committee. The Committee will also use both written and telephone communications to keep all parents aware of the Association activities as well as those activities involving the Academy. Maintain attendance log during class sessions. Maintain data base of students and parents involved in Granville Program. Fund Raising Committee To ensure that sufficient funds are available to complete identified support activities, the fund-raising committee schedules regular money making projects to raise enough cash to cover activity expenses and maintain an adequate balance in the treasury. Activity Committee The activity committee plans and oversees the approved business and social events required to keep the parents involved and satisfied with the Associations progress. They also help to insure parent networking for social and business advancement. Scholarship Committee To assist the Academy’s graduating seniors who plan to attend an institution of higher learning, the scholarship committee makes recommendations for the qualified students to receive a monetary stipend to help offset the initial cost of entry into these learning institutions. Publicity Committee The publicity committee plans and arranges for the continued publicizing of the Association’s activities and accomplishments through the local media. This committee insures that functions sponsored by the Academy and supported by the parents is the recipient of local coverage. Standing Committees The Chairperson of each Committee shall convene a meeting of its members at least once every two months to review and conduct Committee business. The Chairperson shall canvass his/her committee members via telephone at least once each month. The President shall replace the Chairperson upon the discovery of noted inactivity of that Committee Each Committee shall report to the General Body on its activity at each general meeting. The Chair or his/her designate shall report as required and present a written report.
